Hi. This is Karen part of Team JERKAR08. As usual I want to get healthier in 2008. Last year brought the diagnosis of hypertension and pre-diabetes.

I weigh 285# and I am 5'6', surely a BMI over 40. Morbid obesity.

Hello, this is Jericho. I am here to lose weight and feel better. I am at my highest weight. I want children and I will need to be healthy so I can get out and play with my kids.

Biggest Loser Million Pound MatchUp

Here we all are. New year, new you mindset. We have followed a few seasons of 'The Biggest Loser' but never watched the full season. Jericho and I have been saying, "I need to lose weight." "We need to get the Gazelle in the house." These are just passing comments and on we go, probably to eat something.
Last January we even went to visit family in Illinois and our purpose (besides seeing family and friends) was to go to Chicago to apply for 'The Biggest Loser.' We wanted to be on the show as a team! We had a great visit and were ready to go to Chicago the next day for the auditions. We were at my niece's home. Her good friend called to tell my niece that her 1 1/2 year old son had choked on a toy and died. Her friend wanted and needed my niece. I told her I would stay to help with her four kids so she could fly to her friend's house on the east coast. She flew out early the next morning, our dream of auditioning for

And now, here it is a whole year later and some added pounds, too. We sat down to watch 'The Biggest Loser.' I saw the contests and here I am along with Jericho. I can't wait to meet all of you, hear your stories, share inspiration and praise and help one another to a better and healthier life.  Please come back often. Support is one of the strategies to use. We have our partners sure. But me personally, I need all the friends that are in the same boat to talk to also. ~PEACE~K

One week has almost passed. I keep remembering something I read or saw on TV somewhere a couple of weeks ago. A woman was telling about her weight loss journey. When asked what was the final straw so  to say, her comment was, "I don't know. Something just clicked." How could it bethat simple? As I think more about it, I am starting to think it is that simple. As I said before  I have to think about what, why, when, where and how I feel after I eat it.

I was sorry to see the 'brown team'' go home. I wish them all the best in their continuing journey to lose weight. I think the "orange team "is my least favorite team. That mom made negative comments about another team. Losing weight is hard enough without negative people wishing you bad luck.
 
I had a challenging week. I have severe arthritis in my left knee and it was acting up this week for a few days. I could barely put any weight on it making it painful to walk.  It was my birthday on January 8 and we didn't even make a cake. Let's all work hard this week, think before we eat something, watch portion size and get our asses up and move ~PEACE~K

"think before you eat" is right.  We look both ways before crossing a street.  We pick up a ringing phone and say hello before starting a conversation.  We say "Bless you!" to someone who sneezes.  We shake someone's hand when first meeting them.  Why isn't thinking about what we eat 2nd nature?  Best of luck to you both!!

WOW! I was surprised to see how many teams there are for the  Million Pound Match-up. It is a good feeling knowing we are not in this alone. I hope everyone comes here to gather and send one another public words of encouragement.  My words of support this week are to all our new found friends. Welcome, have some water and make yourself comfortable. Think before you eat and get up and move!

Thank you....And Good luck to you both....My daughter and I joined this challenge and for some how we both ended up making a page, so if you would like to add her page also you can go to my friends list and look up Jennifer I think her pic is with her sticking her tongue out...LOL...We all can use alot of support through all of this....I have done good at least I think the last couple of days...For breakfast I have had instant oatmeal with two waffles with three drops of honey on them, an orange, a cup of hot tea, and then my water...So Im hoping that is good ...LOL

My plan is to watch what I eat and to think before I eat something. Ask myself, "Do I really NEED this?" "Why I am eating?" "How am I feeling?" Drink some water.
My son, Jericho, are going to help and inspire one another. We were supposed to start yesterday. I had a dentist appointment and did not eat breakfast. So at 2 p.m. when my appointment was over I was hungry. I ordered a bacon swiss burger and french fries. I ate about half of each. So I ate less but my food choice was unhealthy. When I got home, Jericho was hungry and eating leftover pizza.  We talked about the fact that we were going to start eating better today. Jericho said, "But there is brownie bites in the refridgerator and a Snickers bar we need to eat first." Great I think. His mindset is no better than mine.  I tell him I think this. He kind of freaks but I let him know I understand.....he is also trying to quit smoking. So we finished the pizza, I had 2 pieces. We each had 5 brownie bite cookies and I ate about 3 1/2 , Jericho ate the rest.  I ate the whole damn king-sized Snickers in bed, all by myself. So I will try to do better tomorrow.
